The USS Black Hawk-B is an uprated Akira-Class starship assigned to the Gamma Quadrant. It is currently operating as a member of Task Group Belvedere and is currently based out of the Gavara System investigating pirate activity. She is also currently home to the 325th Fighter Squadron. The vessel was commissioned in June 2390 and replaced the decommissioned USS Black Hawk (NCC-65334-A) as the third starship to bear the name.

Commissioning

Following the abrupt decommissioning of the Black Hawk A, much of that ship's crew is transferred throughout Starfleet's forces in the Gamma Quadrant. Captain Geisler and a select few of his command staff are reassigned to a new vessel, an uprated Akira-class that would continue the Black Hawk's tortured legacy. (21.5: Regrouping).

As part of the newly constructed vessel's shakedown cruise, she is assigned to escort a convoy of supplies to Gavara IV. The escort mission proceeds without issue, aside from a brief appearance by pirates upon arrival to Gavara IV. (22: Milk Run).

Unknown Power G90B

The Black Hawk is relieved from Gavara a week later, allowing Geisler to resume his mission in hunting pirates. A pair of Away Teams are dispatched to the nearby station Razmena. Intelligence of all sorts is gathered, but it becomes clear that several pirates are acting as modern-day Robin Hoods, stealing from the Federation to aid colonies and planets that are struggling to survive. Lt. Commander Di Pasquale is able to earn the trust of one such pirate group and makes contact with a Rakhari colony. Meanwhile, the Black Hawk arrives at its rendezvous with the USS Gaittithe and finds her nearly destroyed and overrun by pirates. Geisler and crew shoo the pirates away, evacuate the survivors, and start to tow the vessel to Starbase Unity (23: Return to Razmena).

A few hours away from the Starbase, the USS Black Hawk receives a garbled distress call, prompting Captain Geisler to declare red alert, release the towed USS Gaittithe, and summon reinforcements from Task Group Belvedere. Upon arriving twenty minutes later, the crew finds Unity and its support ships obliterated, with minimal life signs and a drifting Jem’Hadar vessel containing a single Vorta survivor. While Search and Rescue teams recover survivors and data, Geisler is promoted to Commodore by Admiral O'Connell and ordered to regroup at Gavara IV. Away teams recover critical bioneural gel packs from wrecked ships for intelligence purposes, while the discovery of a clone infiltrator among the survivors raises concerns about internal security. Di Pasquale meets with Captain Geisler to consider their next steps. She is publicly reassigned to Gamma Command but secretly tasked with a covert infiltration mission, while the crew conducts widespread transporter screenings. Upon arrival at Gavara, Geisler debriefs task force leadership, names the mysterious threat Unknown Power G90B, and initiates deployment of a border sensor network. As the task group disperses, the Black Hawk remains behind, and Commodore Geisler contemplates their next move amid growing uncertainty (24: Shattered Unity).

As the Black Hawk orbits Gavara IV, Commodore Geisler oversees the deployment of sensor buoys along the new front line against G90B, while integrating new officers into his command staff. A week of uneasy silence follows, prompting Geisler to launch a convoy operation designed to bait G90B into revealing itself. The convoy—consisting of the USS Black Hawk, USS Endurance, USS Valcour, and several support vessels—travels through twelve planned waypoints. During the mission, Geisler conducts his first inspection tour aboard the Black Hawk, evaluating each department and bonding with key personnel. At the final waypoint, G90B ambushes the Valcour, crippling it. The Black Hawk engages and sustains the attack thanks to upgraded shield modifications, and a warp core breach aboard the Valcour disables G90B long enough for pursuit. The attackers retreat into Nebula G71-2B, a hazardous Mutara-class region. Inside, the Black Hawk detects a derelict alien craft containing survivors and unusual data, leading Commander Geisler to uncover critical intelligence. Geisler devises a plan to trap the wounded G90B, but just as the strategy unfolds, the alien craft escapes by blowing open the Flight Deck, disabling the ship and rendering it inoperable. The Geislers narrowly survive, but the opportunity to stop G90B slips away. With the Black Hawk in need of repairs, Commodore Geisler orders a withdrawal from the nebula, allowing the enemy to vanish once again (25: Bait and Switch).

Meanwhile, Lieutenant Commander Camila Di Pasquale resumes her undercover identity as Francisca Massara and assembles a covert team aboard the modified runabout Flotsam to infiltrate pirate and civilian networks to uncover intel on Unknown Power G90B. Accompanied by Lieutenant Wallace, Crewman Foy, and Ensign Tetnel, the team heads to the Rakhari Colony, where they reconnect with pirate ally Seskal and are recruited to deliver supplies to a mining colony on Mellon. There, they meet Richard Carter, leader of the Golden Stars, and his family. While gathering intel on birythium mining operations, the team is ambushed during dinner by a visitor named D'rimo who kills Richard and reveals himself to be from an alternate universe where the Dominion never rose, and G90B is actually The Confederation, a Karemma-Dosi alliance from an alternate universe. The Flotsam crew and colonists are taken prisoner and coerced into delivering birythium to an undisclosed location. During the tense journey, Camila and her team plan their escape, which is complicated when Emily Carter insists on joining them. Upon arrival at a damaged Confederation ship hidden in an asteroid dock, the crew overpowers their guards, and Camila reveals her true identity to defuse Emily’s shock. Launching their cargo pods at the vulnerable enemy vessel and attacking with the Flotsam, the team creates chaos, forcing the Confederation’s fighters to scatter and allowing them to escape (26: Cover of Darkness).
