The USS Freedom is a member of Task Group Belvedere and was formerly under Consortium control.
Hostile Takeover
The USS Freedom was quickly overrun by a Consortium mutiny team. At the time, the Freedom, USS Akihito and USS Maketu were on assignment to the Altair system. When the takeover of the Maketu and Akihito failed, the Freedom attempted to destroy both vessels, and failed in the process. Not long afterwards, the USS Freedom disappeared from all sensor and communications traffic.

The Freedom was intercepted by the USS Vindex and its Consortium crew overthrown. A smaller crew was put in place, allowing the Freedom to participate in the Battle of Deep Space 11 where it survived to continue defending and patrolling the Gamma Quadrant.
