The Aketi are a humanoid species originating from Aten II in the Aten system located within the Finnean Convergence Zone.
As their homeworld features an atmosphere that is an inverted version of what is comfortable for humans (high levels of carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide versus low levels of oxygen and nitrogen), the Aketi are forced to wear a breathing apparatus in most environments outside their planet.
In 2385, a group of Aketi managed to successfully emerge from the Convergence Zone. This group attempted to send a small pod with a lifeform back through the zone, only for that individual to die in the process. As such, this group of Aketi have taken refuge on Deep Space 15 until they can determine a method of safely returning home.
