"Excellent. We now have an isolated system within the computer system. Including transporter control. Someone has raised the shields around the compound command center though. We can beam as close as we can, and work from there. Computer, site to site transport to the following location." He entered the location on his tricorder. "Energise."
The transporter beam materialised the Admiral and Commander Tevak about 100 yards from the entrance to Captain Mavroidis’ office. There were several unconscious bodies lying around the doorway, and a few others not so unconscious. Several of them turned around aiming their phasers at Vadosia and Tevak.
“Hold your fire.” Tevak instructed the 6 people now aiming their phasers at the two of them. “I am sorry Admiral.” He said to Vadosia as he pulled out his phaser and pressed it into his back. Admiral Adislo is under arrest on charges of treason and sedition.”
Vadosia looked shocked. “Tevak, no.” His voice trailing off as the Vulcan removed the phaser from his holster.
One of the other officers stepped forward. “Identify yourself.” he ordered.
“Commander Tevak, aide-de-camp to Admiral Adislo.” The phasers remained aimed at both him and Vadosia. “Pity is Treason.” This seemed to have relax the commander of this group, but the other remained hesitant, before lowering their phasers. “I assume we are capturing Admiral Adislo, to make an example of him?
“Yes.” The group leader replied. “He will be brought to Commodore Terlexa, after we take Captain Mavroidis and Commander Channing into custody.”
“She is a Commodore now. Interesting.” Vadosia muttered to himself.
“Be quiet Admiral.” The leader shot a look at Adislo. “They will all stand trial on charges of treason and sedition. And their little insurrection will be over. I am Lieutenant Commander Jackson. We are part of the security detail brought down to take them into custody. Some of their security officers succeeded in subduing some of my men, before they sealed themselves in the Captain’s office. There is some kind of security protocol activated. We have been unable to deactivate it.”
Tevak spoke up. “Perhaps I may assist you.” He nodded towards a worried looking Ensign. “Ensign, please take over my custody of Admiral Adislo, so I may override the security protocol.” The Ensign hesitated, then nodded, walking over to Vadosia, phaser rifle in hand. Tevak put his phaser in the holster on his belt. He began tapping on the console on the wall in front of the Captain’s door.
“Do you even know why you are arresting me, Ensign?” Vadosia asked the man now guarding him.
“You have been arrested on charges of treason and sedition.” He replied, his voice shaking.
“No, that’s the general line. Do you know what exactly I am alleged to have done?”
The Ensign hesitated for a moment before answering. “No, I am just following orders. Our orders are to take you into custody on charges of treason and sedition.”
“Ok. In that case I am sorry.” Vadosia looked away, the Ensign looking worried by the finality of Vadosias final sentence.
Tevak looked up from the console. “I believe that I have sufficiently broken through the protocol, to allow my command code to turn it off.”
Lieutenant Jackson looked up. “Whenever you are ready Commander.”
Tevak nodded. “Very well. Computer, execute Tevak Alpha Seven Two.” The lights dimmed, but the doors remained closed. Then the familiar hum of a transported sounded, beaming in someone behind the group. Adislo crouched down, as did Tevak. The person, actually two people behind the group both had two phasers each. They fired as soon as they were fully materialised, crumpling 4 of the officers into heaps on the floor, Tevak taking out the 5th man, leaving Lieutenant Jackson standing alone, with 4 people pointing phasers at him, Adislo having picked up the phaser rifle from the Ensign, now unconscious on the floor with his comrades.
Adislo walked up to Tevak, smiling. “Nicely done Tevak. I admit when you… went off script, I think that's what the Humans say, I didn't expect you to do it so well.” Tevak merely nodded, without a hint of emotion in his face, though Vadosia was sure there was a split second smirk across his mouth.
Vadosia quickly turned to Captain Mavroidis. “Captain, I trust you are well.” The Ullian opening his mouth to speak.
“Vadosia, I don't know how much longer we could have kept them out. Your security protocol was excellent. We couldn't even turn it off from the inside.”
“Thank you. Took many weeks to write that, with Tevak’s help of course. But enough pleasantries. We need to get off New Bajor.” Turning back to Tevak a look of seriousness now on his face. “Our exit plan is in place?”
“Yes.” Tevak nodded. “I only need enter the command, and we will be beamed on board the Waikato, which is still cloaked at the Southern Pole of New Bajor.”
“You have a cloaked runabout? Do you have any idea how many regulations you just broke, by even saying that sentence out loud?” The Tarmin asked the Vulcan.
“‘I'm sorry, Captain. Would you like to stay here with these fine gentlemen?” Tevak gestured to the unconscious officers littering the hall. Tarmin shook his head. “Very well. One moment, and I will create some false lifesigns in the room, and seal it up again.”
Tarmin turned to the Admiral. “Vadosia, he's quite… unique for a Vulcan, isn't he.”
Vadosia merely nodded with a smile. “He is. Now let's get out of here shall we?” He looked to Commander Channing. “You seem quiet Commander. Everything ok?”
Channing looked to Vadosia, his face quite pale. “You mean apart from the armed insurrection from our friends and colleagues, the fact subspace is basically overloaded with comm signals, the fact Juliana has promoted herself and everyone seems to be trying to kill us? Yes, everything is fine.” He paused before adding ‘Sir’.
Vadosia simply smiled. “Excellent. Then let us depart. Tevak?”
“One moment…. done. There are now 4 lifesigns in the room, a Vulcan, a Bolian, a Human and an Ullian. That should keep them occupied for a several hours. Now did everyone pack their overnight bag? Computer run program Tevak Two Nine. 4 occupants.”
The hold of a transporter beam took them from the Compound, to the snowy Southern pole, and inside a Runabout. Vadosia sat at the Conn panel, and began typing away commands. Commander’s Tevak and Channing, There are two beds in the end compartment. Please, go and get some rest. I fear we will need it. Captain, please join me. We have much to discuss.
The two Commanders left the cockpit and headed for the last compartment, leaving Vadosia and Tarmin alone in the cockpit. “Tarmin, we never suspected it would happen this quickly. I spoke with Jaca around 8 hours ago, and we didn't expect it for a few weeks.”
“Well, considering the circumstances. Commander Channing, we are sure he isn't an agent?” He asked Vadosia.
“He is on the list of potential agents. We never got around to getting Jaca to scan him. Though, he hasn't tried to take you down yet?” Tarmin shook his head. “That's usually a good sign he isn't an agent. Once we rendezvous with Jaca and the Unification, we can get a scan of him done. Meanwhile, Tevak will be his shadow. Though our plans have been brought forward somewhat, they were not totally incomplete. Hence why we are sitting in this Runabout, and not a prison cell.”
“How did you pull this one off, Vadosia?” He asked gesturing both hands around the cockpit.
“I have a friend somewhere, who knows a friend somewhere else who knows a Klingon, who is a friend. I won't go into details, suffice it to say, the less you know, the better. We can't leave yet. Tevak’s little program is currently erasing some information and encrypting some other information. As soon as it is done, there may or may not be a sensor blind spot above the Southern Pole.” A grin grew across his face. A smile also appearing on Tarmin’s for the first time since all hell broke loose.
“So what's the plan. We have no idea who we can and can't trust.” Tarmin asked, the smile disappearing from his face.
“We need to make contact with the USS O’Carroll, USS Unification and Unity base. The O’Carroll has a friend on it, the Unification is where Jaca was heading and Unity is where Scarlot is. I managed to pull some sensor logs through from the relays just before I was locked out of the system. the Ottawa was last on an intercept course for Unity. The O’Carroll was on course for Unity as well. Hopefully to deal with the Ottawa. The Triumph is on an intercept course for the Unification too.”
“What's so special about the Unification Vadosia? That's Lamberts ship, correct?”
Vadosia nodded as he replied. “Yes. I have known Jacob a long time. He isn't an agent, he was scanned before he left for their current mission. They are heading for a broken sensor relay to enact repairs. Jaca has rendezvoused with them. They are going to head for an asteroid field just outside of the Jurgen system. There is a small base waiting there for them. I say small, it has enough space inside to fit a Nebula class ship. A gift from Odo.”
Tarmin looked shocked for a moment. “The Founder Odo?” Vadosia nodded to Tarmin. “I don't know how you managed that, but you certainly seem… prepared.”
A beep from the console in front of Vadosia started to beep. Evidently the same notification had gotten to Tevak, as he and Commander Channing entered the cockpit a few moments later. Vadosia shared a look of satisfaction with Tevak, who nodded a reply.
“Let's get out of here then. Tevak, make sure the cloak’s emissions remain in check. We know what kind of sensors Gamma Command has installed.” He tapped some keys and the ship jolted as it lifted from the ground. “Let's head out via the Alpha 2 flight path. Should be empty around now.” The Alpha 2 flight path was also the flight path with least amount of sensor coverage. What the station lacked in immediate coverage was usually covered by the planetary sensors. Given that Tevak had severed the connection, this effectively left a blind spot.
“Admiral. I'm picking up debris.” Tarmin spoke, tapping on the sensor controls. “It looks… Federation. Analysing the results now.” The mood in the cockpit had soured somewhat quickly, the mood now somber. “It's the Princeton. My god, 530 people gone. No lifesigns. Also picking up wreckage of fighters.”
“The Antares.” Vadosia said.
Tarmin nodded. “Yes. They have sustained minor damage. Where they the aggressors? Or the victim’s?” He asked, fearing he already knew the answer.
“Gamma Command isn't firing on them. We must assume they are on the other side. Tevak, get us out of here.” He pondered a thought. “Flight us through the wreckage of the Princeton. We can try and find their emergency buoy, if it hasn't already been picked up by Terlexa’s ships.”
Tevak began scanning for the frequency of the Princeton’s log buoy. “I have it, 10 degrees port, about 2 kilometres.”
Vadosia moved the ship on an intercept course for the buoy. “Energising in 3, 2, 1. It's in the science bay. Tevak, take Commander Channing, find out what happened to the Princeton. Let's head for Unity. Setting course, maximum warp. Engaging.” He looked to the officers in the cockpit. “Let's see how many friends we have left in this quadrant.”
