A week has passed since the Black Hawk lost G90B in the Nebula. The ship, now in orbit of New Risa, is finishing repairs to its damaged flight deck. In close proximity is the USS Endurance, which has been acting as a temporary home for the squadron. What no one expected was the sudden return of Lt. Commander Di Pasquale with quadrant-shattering news: the true identity of G90B.

Unbeknownst to all, both Commodore and Lt. Commander Geisler have been replaced by clones whose true purpose remains to be enacted. Can they keep the news from reaching Gamma Command? What mayhem do the clones have in store for the Black Hawk and the Task Group? Will the crew of the Black Hawk ever figure out the truth?

And, will the real Harvey and Joey survive captivity, or will they sacrifice every bit of the uniform they love for just one more day together?

Summary

Black Hawk

As the Black Hawk leaves the nebula, Lieutenant Frex meets with the engineering crew to discuss repairs to the Flight Deck. As repairs begin, it is determined that the 325th Fighter Squadron needs to be temporarily moved to the USS Endurance as its shuttlebay so that effective and speedy repairs can be made to the 'Hawk. The Black Hawk remains in orbit of New Risa for a week as repairs get underway. Meanwhile, the clones of Captain Harvey Geisler and Lt. Commander Joey Geisler begin to plot their next steps, deciding to quietly transfer their flag to Gavara IV and send the Black Hawk off on a path to its destruction.

This plan is turned on its head when the Runabout Conchos (Flotsam) suddenly returns with Lt. Commander Camila Di Pasquale and her undercover team. Alongside her is Emily Carter, a familiar yet unrecognized face to Commodore Geisler, whose demeanor and memory raise concerns. During a tense debriefing in the Ready Room with Executive Officer John Reynolds present, Camila presents critical intelligence: the location of G90B, a birythium refinery, and the arrival of an alternate-universe version of D’rimo, who killed Emily’s father and assumed control of Mellon. While Camila pushes for immediate action, Geisler appears hesitant and oddly disconnected, prompting suspicions from his crew. Ultimately, he agrees to mobilize reinforcements and orders Camila to prepare an attack plan within three hours, setting the stage for a decisive operation. As the team disperses, the tension lingers, particularly around Harvey's strange behavior and the unresolved recognition between him and Emily.

Down in the Intelligence Office, Ensign Ronin Tetanal reports back to his supervisor, Intelligence Chief Geisler, bringing with him critical data—including a PADD and a tricorder filled with scans and surveillance—regarding The Confederation and their leader. He recounts a disturbing event in which D’Rimo publicly executed Richard Carter and assumed control of Mellon, with Richard’s daughter Emily escaping alongside the team. Joey, though visibly disturbed and angered by the implications of the mission, maintains her composure and prepares to escalate matters up the chain of command. She orders Ronin to take the day off to decompress, despite his willingness to continue working. As Ronin leaves, Joey begins to prepare for the next step—preserving their cover and briefing Commodore Geisler, knowing the stakes have now escalated significantly.

In a private and tense meeting, the impostor versions of Joey and Harvey Geisler discuss the unraveling situation aboard the Black Hawk. Joey proposes misleading Di Pasquale with false intel or framing expendable crew, but Harvey rejects it in favor of keeping the Chief of Security close. They agree to move forward with Camila’s strike plan as a calculated trap, using the refinery as bait to weaken Starfleet further. As they weigh risks and plan contingencies, including contact with D’rimo and further infiltration, both agents reflect on maintaining their charade, down to mimicking Harvey's coffee habits. With tensions mounting and deception deepening, they reaffirm their mission: destabilize the quadrant from within while hiding in plain sight.

The faux Harvey prepares for a high-stakes communication with Admiral O'Connell at Gamma Command, fully aware of the tightrope he’s walking as an infiltrator in Starfleet. Lacking some of Geisler’s personal habits and command protocols, the clone struggles to convincingly play his role, but manages to initiate a secure channel using the appropriate authorization code. During the conversation, he relays a filtered version the intelligence gathered by Di Pasquale about G90B's birythium refinery and Mellon’s occupation by enemy forces, recommending a swift attack while the target is exposed, all the while not mentioning anything about the Confederation. Despite initial skepticism, the Admiral, pressured by his intelligence chief and the urgency of the threat, commits not only to supporting the strike but also to redeploying the majority of Task Group Sentinel. This development dramatically escalates the situation, increasing the likelihood of Starfleet success but also deepening the clone’s dilemma, as any major victory by Starfleet could undermine the Confederation’s infiltration efforts. The clone is left to wrestle with how quickly events are spiraling and the increasing stakes of the covert mission.

Geislers in Captivity

In a dark, decaying prison cell, the real Joey Geisler struggles to endure the physical and psychological toll of long-term captivity. Surrounded by filth, malfunctioning equipment, and fading hope, her solitude is suddenly broken when two Karemma guards unceremoniously deposit another prisoner into her cell. The figure, bruised, drugged, and barely conscious, turns out to be none other than her husband Harvey Geisler. Joey, herself weak and injured from previous escape attempts, pushes through her pain to help stabilize him, moving him off the cold floor and onto a dilapidated cot. The realization that Harvey is alive—-however barely—-galvanizes her resolve, though the grim conditions and uncertainty of their fate remain ever-present. The reunion is quiet and painful, but in that moment, it offers a flicker of purpose and fragile hope.

Harvey soon awakens, absolutely disoriented, injured, and reeling from betrayal by the imposter claiming to be his wife. As he struggles to regain control of his body and mind, he discovers Joey lying beside him, badly burned but alive, and is overwhelmed by fear, confusion, and disbelief. Through painful dialogue and shared memories, especially the birth of their twins, Joey slowly convinces Harvey of her true identity, revealing she was abducted and replaced by a clone during the recent mission to Razmena. The two piece together fragments of memory, concluding they are prisoners aboard a decaying, repurposed vessel used by unknown captors for memory extraction and manipulation. Reunited in truth and purpose, Harvey and Joey resolve to survive and return to their children, determined to reclaim their lives from the imposters left behind.

Soon, they are removed from the cell and moved to a different room where Joey endures psychological and physical torture at the hands of a masked interrogator who directs questions at Harvey. The interrogator reveals themselves to be a Selamat from another universe. Despite intense pain and threats, particularly targeted at Joey, they remain defiant and refuse to divulge sensitive information about their interdimensional journey and survival. The Selamat, frustrated by their resilience, escalates his tactics, focusing on extracting data about how the pair crossed universes via a rift in the Hadyn Nebula. As the interrogator departs, the couple is left battered but unbroken. Joey begins to formulate a plan to escape.
