Engineering Command Positions

Chief Engineering Officer
Classification: Officer
Description:
The Chief Engineer is responsible for the condition of all systems and equipment on board a Starfleet ship or facility. S/he oversees maintenance, repairs and upgrades of all equipment. S/he is also responsible for the many repair teams during crisis situations. The Chief Engineer is not only the department head but also a senior officer, responsible for all the crew members in her/his department and maintenance of the duty rosters.
Assistant Chief Engineering Officer
Classification: Officer
Description:
The Assistant Chief Engineer assists the Chief Engineer in the daily work; in issues regarding mechanical, administrative matters and coordinating repairs with other departments. If so required, the Assistant Chief Engineer must be able to take over as Chief Engineer, and thus must be versed in current information regarding the ship or facility.
Staff Engineer
Classification: Officer
Description:
Engineers are the backbone of the Engineering Corps and are responsible for, under the guidance of the Chief Engineer, maintaining and repairing the vessel.
Diagnostics Officer
Classification: Officer
Description:
A diagnostic engineer was a type of engineer who performed in starship diagnostics in order to track down and solve engineering "mysteries."


Damage Control/Maintenance Positions

Assistant Chief Engineer, Damage Control and Maintenance
Classification: Officer
Description:
The Damage Control Specialist is a specialized Engineer. The Damage Control Specialist controls all damage control aboard the ship when it gets damaged in battle. S/he oversees all damage repair aboard the ship, and coordinates repair teams on the smaller jobs so the Chief Engineer can worry about other matters.

Damage Control/Maintenance Specialist

Description:
Damage Control Technician was a rating given to crewmen and non-commissioned officers who performed damage control roles aboard Starfleet vessels.
Structural Engineer

Description:
These specialists are also responsible for managing damage control during and after battles, and often best know the strengths of the entire engineering team and how to utilize them for repairs.

Description:
Maintaining the internal dampening, structural integrity, and environmental systems is not an easy job; it is fulfilled by these trained specialists. These specialists are also responsible for managing damage control during and after battles, and often best know the strengths of the entire engineering team and how to utilize them for repairs.

Description:
Specializing in impulse and warp propulsion, these specialists are often specific to even a single class of ship due to the complexity of warp and impulse systems.
Propulsion Officer
Classification: Officer
Description:
A Propulsion Officer specializes in the application of theory to warp, impulse, and thruster assemblies.
Impulse Drive Specialist
Classification: Enlisted
Description:
Specialists are often specific to a single class of ship, due to the complexity of various systems. The officer in this position specializes in impulse drive propulsion.
Warp Drive Specialist
Classification: Enlisted
Description:
Specialists are often specific to a single class of ship, due to the complexity of various systems. The officer in this position specializes in warp drive propulsion.


Systems Positions

Systems Specialist
Classification: Enlisted
Description:
A Systems Engineer is responsible for maintaining critical systems throughout the vessel that pertain to the fine-tuned operation of those systems.
Power Systems Specialist
Classification: Enlisted
Description:
A Power Systems Specialist focuses strictly on the EPS grid, fusion generators, and emergency power.
Matter/Energy Specialist
Classification: Enlisted
Description:
All aspects of matter and energy transfer, with the exception of the warp drive system, are handled by these specialists.
