Access to all Starfleet data is highly regulated. A standard set of access levels have been programmed into the computer cores of all ships in order to stop any undesired access to confidential data. Security levels are also variable, and task-specific. Certain areas of the ship are restricted to unauthorized personnel, regardless of security level. Security levels can also be raised, lowered, or revoked by Command personnel.

Access Levels

Access levels in use aboard an Akira Class are:

  • Level 1 – Open Access (Read Only)
  • Level 2 – Civilian Personnel, Crewman Apprentice
  • Level 3 – Enlisted Ranks Crewman-Petty Officer 3rd Class
  • Level 4 - Ensign, Petty Officer 1st & 2nd Class
  • Level 5 – Lt. Junior Grade
  • Level 6 – Lieutenant, Chief Petty Officer, Warrant Officers
  • Level 7 – Lt. Commander, Master Chief Petty Officer
  • Level 8 - Commander
  • Level 9 – First Officer
  • Level 10 – Captain and Above

Note: Security Levels beyond current rank can and are bestowed where, when and to whom they are necessary.

The main computer grants access based on a battery of checks to the individual user, including face and voice recognition in conjunction with a vocal code as an added level of security.

Access to Information

Level 1

Allows basic access to some areas aboard the USS Black Hawk, as well as personnel and official logs. Allows basic, limited and restricted access to Starfleet records and data files.

Allows full operational access to most areas aboard the USS Black Hawk, as well as personnel and official logs. Allows basic, limited and restricted access to Starfleet records and data files.

Level 3

Allows full operational access to most areas aboard the USS Black Hawk, as well as personnel and official logs. Allows access to weapons locker for Starfleet personnel. Also allows limited access to Starfleet records and data files.

Level 4

Allows full operational access to most areas aboard the USS Black Hawk, as well as personnel and official logs. Allows access to weapons lockers for Starfleet personnel, as well as access to tactical data and communications systems. Level 4 is also the minimum security clearance for all Starfleet intelligence officers, and allows limited access to Starfleet records and data files.

Level 5

Allows full operational access to most areas aboard the USS Black Hawk, as well as personnel and official logs. Allows access to weapons lockers for Starfleet personnel, as well as access to tactical, operations, flight control, and communications systems. Level 5 clearance permits the officer basic operational authority in certain situations. Also allows access to most Starfleet records and data files.

Level 6

Allows full operational access to most areas aboard the USS Black Hawk, as well as personnel and official logs. Allows access to weapons lockers for Starfleet personnel, as well as access to tactical, operations, flight control, and communications systems. Level 6 clearance permits the officer limited operational authority in certain situations. Also allows access to most Starfleet records and data files.
