Command

The Command department is ultimately responsible for each individual ship/base and its crew, and those within the department are responsible for commanding the vessel and representing the interests of Starfleet.
Flight Control

The Flight Control department is ultimately responsible for the piloting starships, and various auxiliary craft.
Intelligence
- Main Article: Intelligence Department.
The Intelligence Corps is responsible for gathering and deciphering information and presenting it in a way that a Commanding Officer can understand. The information can come from a variety of sources including starship logs, operatives and contacts.
The Intelligence Corps is part of Starfleet Intelligence (SFI) and is under the jurisdiction of the Head of SFI and Starfleet Command.

Operations
- Main Article: Operations Department.
The operations department is responsible for keeping ship systems functioning properly, rerouting power, bypassing relays, and doing whatever else is necessary to keep the ship operating at peak efficiency. It is also responsible for overseeing the allocation of ship resources to the various departments, ensuring that every department gets the resources they require.
Operations is also tasked with coordinating maintenance schedules between the various departments, and is accountable for the success or failure of these maintenances.
Engineering

The engineering department has the enormous task of keeping the ship working; they are responsible for making repairs, fixing problems, and making sure that the ship is ready for anything.
Security / Tactical

The responsibilities of ship-to-ship and personnel combat are merged into a single department, the security & tactical department is responsible for the tactical readiness of the vessel and the security of the ship.
