Development of EDEN began in 2382 at Starfleet Research and Development under the tutelage of Lieutenant [[Haxin Mariwat]].

After several years of development, the system was first tested during a mission to explore a newly discovered planet in the Gamma Quadrant. The ''[[USS Genesis]]'' encountered a previously unknown species that attacked without warning. Thanks to EDEN, the crew was able to respond swiftly and effectively. The system’s automated protocols contained the threat, coordinated medical assistance, and ensured the ship’s critical systems remained operational. This mission, which could have ended in disaster, was a success, proving EDEN’s worth.

The project would have been extended to other vessels were it not for the unfortunate attack on the Mars shipyards in 2385.
