Captain Vaanika Suresh was the Commanding Officer of the USS Chimera operating within Task Force 9. According to Intelligence reports, Suresh, then First Officer of the Chimera, gained command by staging a shuttle accident that cost the life of Captain Mazza, Counselor Camarra, and Lieutenant Kelley, a Flight Control Officer. These reports remain to be confirmed.
Captain Suresh was assigned to acquire a Romulan Valdore-class Warbird abandoned and adrift in the Hadyn Nebula. This Valdore was rumored to possess a Thalaron generator. Suresh was successful in obtaining the Valdore and activated the Thalaron weapon. Unfortunately, the weapon was unstable, claiming her life, and the lives of the crew aboard the Valdore.
