The USS Vasco da Gama, having survived the Consortium outbreak, has returned under command of the Vulcan Commander Stryk to study the Finnean Convergence Zone, which was discovered by the starship in 2371. Commander Stryk was XO at the time and inherited the ship after the retirement of her previous captain.
